World Tree Day

In celebration of World Tree Day, the Mafraq Governorate hosted a remarkable event that highlights the importance of tree planting and care, as well as its vital role in mitigating the impacts of climate change. This initiative is considered a strategic step in combating desertification, which has been rapidly increasing in the region in recent times. Trees also contribute to enhancing tourism and the local economy, making them a key pillar for a sustainable environmental future.

The event was the result of fruitful cooperation between the Mafraq Community Support Committee (CSC), in partnership with the UNHCR and the Mafraq Directorate of Agriculture, under the patronage of the Governor of Mafraq, with active participation from the local community.

The active involvement of refugees in planting trees in the areas where they reside was a deeply impactful humanitarian gesture, as it instilled a sense of belonging and a deep connection to the land, promoting inner peace and happiness among all participants.
